It is an authentic traditional village at an altitude of 560m and is 27km east of Volos. The Pinakates complete the enchanting set of the scattered villages of Pelion. The beautiful landscapes, the magnificent view of the Pagasetic Gulf and the Pelionian atmosphere give the visitor the illusion of participating in a fairy tale of warm hospitality.
The paved cobbled streets lead to natural paths, traditional courtyards and mansions. Many of the old buildings and mansions have been renovated and now they are houses and accommodation, restaurants and cafes. In the central square of the village a refreshing atmosphere, coming from the leaves of 500 years old plane tree, is offered for food, local wines and tsipouro in the natural and quiet environment that prevails. Also in the square of the village you can visit the church of Agios Dimitrios and the famous fountain with the lion heads, built since 1894. The basic occupation of the inhabitants are the rural ornaments of the village, the olive groves and the vines spreading southwards towards the sea , and higher on the mountain are apple trees and chestnut trees. An opportunity for an unforgettable adventure is the Pilion Train, which stops in the village of Oglas and so you can admire the whole green landscape of Pelion. Feast and crazy fun with local dishes, tsipouro and wine accompany the feasts of St. Demetrius on August 20th and St. Athanasius on 2 May.
